We Did It!!

I just wanted to make sure there was a formal post to acknowledge that Kate & I spent an AMAZING 3 days up on Mt. Baker for our Glacier Skills Course!! We had a great guide through AAI in Alasdair Turner. He led us through basic skills such as knot-tying and how to set up a rope line, taught us about glaciology, reminded us about safe glacier travel, taught us the importance of setting a proper ice anchor, showed us how to rappel... Oh, and WE JUMPED IN TO A CREVASSE!!!!!! The moral of that story was DON'T fall into a crevasse, especially if you've only got one other person to help pull you out!!!!
After we each slid into, then got pulled out of the crevasse, we survived walking through an ice fall, and we even got to learn how to ice climb!! And, turns out, we now know that our stomachs are strong enough to withstand drinking ice worms for three days. We're pretty sure they were all dead before we ingested them...

Here's the Picasa Link to all of the pictures. What an accomplishment!!!!!!!

Most importantly, we achieved our goal of becoming QUALIFIED TO CLIMB MT. RAINIER!!!! We have already registered for next summer, and intend to be standing on Rainier's summit at the end of July, 2010!!!!!!
